UX Design, UX Research, Design System
As the in-house UX Designer for Sand & Sky, I designed user flows for the website, including the homepage, product pages, and checkout process. I also led the integration of a skincare quiz, allowing personalise product recommendations, improving user engagement and decision-making.

#01: Why did we need a design system?
When I joined Supernova Brands (the parent company for Sand & Sky), I was tasked to assist on the development of their design systems. There were no dedicated frontends and the team was working off legacy files, so this was not a priority for a long time. Inconsistencies piled up and the complexity of the frontend code started to grow.
In 2021, we prioritised standardising our style guides and building the components for our design systems. We wanted to ensure the design and frontend teams could collaborate smoothly, deliver quickly, and provide an experience that overall felt modern and professional.

#02: How I lead the design and implementation of the Skin Quiz:
In 2022, I identified a challenge where users struggled to choose products, despite our push for subscription bundles. This issue became evident through user survey feedback and Hotjar session recordings, which showed high drop-off rates on product pages.
Rather than relying on last-minute cart incentives to drive sales, I conducted competitive research to explore industry trends. I discovered that skincare quizzes were gaining popularity as a way to guide users toward personalized product recommendations. Recognizing its potential, I pitched the idea to the team, proposing a tailored quiz to help customers find the right products and bundles more effectively.

The main challenge was the summary page.
Users found Sand & Sky’s content overwhelming, as it was heavily text-based.
To improve readability and engagement, we aimed to provide concise, to-the-point product recommendations while incorporating visual breaks to create a more user-friendly experience.
Priorities:
*Reduce questions in the quiz (We narrowed it down to just 7!)
*Break down summary content to include visual breaks

#03: Other notable achievements!
During my stint at Sand & Sky, I had to pleasure to work in a small team and implement changes to that saw an improvement with overall conversions and user engagements. These implementations can still be found on the live site today.
An overhaul of the CTA colour across the platform to align with the branding - this also saw an increase in engagement. (The previous CTA was lime green)
